My city Jena
Jena is the second biggest city of the State Thuringia in the center of Germany. The population is a bit more than 100,000. The buildings are spread in the valley of the Saale river and green hills with its nature are very close.
A short history: Jena is older than 1000 years. In the Second World War the City and its buildings were suffering and also the university stopped working. Jena is in east Germany so it belonged later to the German Democratic Republic.
Jena's Universities and Students Life: The university "Friedrich Schiller University Jena" is founded in the end of middle age and it is one of the most important universities of Germany. Together with the technical college "Ernst-Abbe-Hochschule Jena" there are about 25,000 students, which makes the city young, active, and full of possibilities. Many famous scientists, philosophers, and classical writers lived and worked in Jena; from which Goethe, Hegel, Nietzsche, and Ernst Abbe can be mentioned.
