50 km around Jena

Hello All,

Do you like hiking and are you up for some cool adventure?! Do you want to get to know to Jena’s hills very well in just one day?

Same like last year, we came up with a crazy idea.

On Saturday, 7th August 2021, we are planning to organize a hike of more or less 50 Kms within Jena.

Don't worry you do not need to walk for whole 50 km. however, you are most welcome to complete all sessions if you would like to call yourself Hiking King/Queen.

⚠️ There are going to be 4 parts of this hike. Where one ends, the next will start. Please register and choose for which session you want to join.

Just come to the correct meeting point on time. ⚠️

We have designed our stages based on the availability of transport and the distance. Here are all details.

Part 1: Good morning Napoléon ☀️

😍 What we will see:

Sunrise at Napoleonstein, Landgrafen, Bismarckturm, Forstturm, Ernst-Haeckel-Stein, Ammerbach

📍 Meeting Point and time: Hanfried Statue (market square) at 05:30 AM ⏰

❗ How to get to the meeting point: it is the Statue in the middle of the market in the heart of Jena!

📏 Hiking Length: 11 km

🎒 What to bring additionally: 🔦 Torch light

Description: As the name suggests, we are going to Napoleon Stein early in the morning. First part will start at 5:30 am and it will end at Ammerbach bus stop.

Part 2: Visiting hidden Göschwitz 🏞️

😍 What we will see:

Nennsdorf, cool Maze, Mönchsberg and Having lunch at Steinbruch

📍 Meeting Point and time: Ammerbach Bus Station at 10:00 AM ⏰

❗ How to get to the meeting point: Bus to Station "Grüne Aue", then walk around 15 min

📏 Hiking Length: 8 km

Description: A’nt you early bird, do not worry. The tour includes two villages and an amazing view from the Mönchsberg where we have a lunch break.

ℹ️ At the train station Göschwitz you can buy some food, drinks and use the toilet

Part 3: Cliff and Monuments Tour ⛰️ 🏰

😍 What we will see:

Lobdeburg, Johannisberg (Roman's 2nd home), main break at Fürstenbrunnen, where you can fill water 💧💦 (Raihan's Pool), Fuchsturm with dinner break.

📍 Meeting Point and time: Tram Station Bahnhof Göschwitz at 13:30 ⏰

❗ How to get to the meeting point: by tram or train. If you live in Lobeda West, you can also walk there.

📏 Hiking Length: 16.5 km

Description: This is the longest part, which includes spectacular views from the cliff at Johannisberg and pathes through the forest. We will stop in the cool shade at Fürstenbrunnen, where we will pause and replenish the drinkable water from the spring. And then we will visit Fuchsturm, where you can also go to the toilet.

Part 4: Sunset at Jenzig 🌄

Sunset and lunch at Jenzig, Kunitzburg

📍 Meeting Point and time: tram station Jena Ost at 19:32 ⏰

❗ How to get to the meeting point: by tram no. 2

📏 Hiking Length: 14 km

🎒 What to bring additionally: 🔦 Torch light

Description: The last part will lead to Jenzig by taking the dinosaur-education-trail. On the top will be the 2nd dinner break and we will see the sunset. Later it will become a night hike until Kunitzburg. It will end at the train station Zwätzen.
